The first six days of the 3100 Mile Race concluded on Friday, September 9, 2022. What is strange in the fabric of the world has been the two years of Covid-19 and its bizarre exchanges and the incredible change of sickness with nearly every country, and our own need for survival from difficulties. On the first day of the 3100 this year, one of the athletes was cast aside for three days before he could start his journey. The second runner started the race on time and was in the mix for good to great results.

Nirbhasa Magee from Iceland, and a three time finisher of the longest, started on Wednesday September 7th. He was able to register 70+miles and wager his chances to stay in the race for its 52 days, minus the lost 72 hours. The man who dropped early in the first day of movement, Kobe Oren, a gem of a runner from Israel who finished in 2018 in the second position, was struck by a bad stomach virus from Manhattan which shocked him just when he was ready to test his intense training. By this Thursday he had pulled away from the race in Jamaica Queens and awaits a flight pack to Israel once his son arrives. He offers his gratitude to his friends, family, supporters and the lifeline of helpers that gave him another chance to explore the difficult runs.

Andrea Mercato, 40, from Zurich Switzerland, and the last two-time winner of this event has set the pace after six days of sparkling effort.  He stands at over 20 miles in the lead from the second placer of 2021- Lo Wei-Ming- the Tawaines hero who became the Asian superstar who reached 3100 miles last year in 49 days +12 hours. Right now the 3100 Mile Race World record holder and past ever for the longest race- Ashprihanal Aalto from Finland of 40days+ nine hours, six minutes and 21 seconds. Mr Aalto is the 15th runner to finish the difficult race in excellent if not remarkable times. Fourth overall Vasu Duzhiy is rounding into form without any foot injuries. A big clap goes to Australian Stephen Redfern, who has made a good start to the race.

Some of the best women's long distance runners are also challenging themselves to the longest certified race. Right now Huang-Lan Yang, a Taiwanese living in Japan, Susan Marshall from New Zealand, and Slovakian World Women's best Kaneenika Janakova are just a few miles apart and are showing good efforts to carry on.
