"The Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race is called "Mount Everest Ultra Run".  While more than 4,000 people have climbed Mount Everest since 1953, in the 25 years of the race, only 52 people have completed the 3,100-mile run, including 5 Slovaks who have the most successful races of any country.  The Slovak world record on this track is held by the Slovak Kaneenika Janáková, who ran it in 2017 in 48 days, 14 hours, 24 minutes and 10 seconds.   "Participants in the 3100-mile run have 52 days to successfully complete the race.  To reach their destination, they must run 59.6 miles (95.9 km) every day.  So 118 marathons will take place during the whole race.  To successfully complete the race, runners must complete 5649 laps with a total elevation gain of 25825 m, which represents 2.9 times the ascent to Mount Everest.    "The 25th annual 3100-mile run was held at the 0.5488 mile course around Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Education High School (165-65 84th Ave).  It was attended by seven runners from seven countries.  The race was won by the Italian Andrea Marcato (39).  He became the third fastest person in the world in this race, covering the distance in 42 days, 17 hours, 38 minutes and 38 seconds.  The only woman running this year is 46-year-old Harita Davies (USA); she comes from New Zealand.    T"he 3100-mile run was founded by the Indian spiritual teacher, athlete, musician and peace philosopher Sri Chinmoy (Sri Chinmoy) in 1997. Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) himself ran many marathons and ultramarathons.  He described the benefits of running long distances as follows: “Self-transcendence is the only thing a person needs to be truly happy.  So these races help runners tremendously, even if they have to overcome great obstacles on the outside.  In the end, when the race is over, they feel they have achieved something very important.
