Day 6:

A deluge greeted the runners this morning, but the end came finally after six days of precipitation. The wind increased, the gray skies moved faster, the rain disappeared and the sun made a lasting impression on the longest day of the year. Ashprihanal Aalto took back five laps from the leader Vasu Duzhiy with his 65+ mile day, enough to lead the Day. Nirbhasa Magee moved into third place with a solid 65+ miles. He has been at about 65+ miles for every day. The clear skies, afternoon and evening, created more running opportunities. Five of eight runners jumped past 60 miles, with the top six all being on pace to reach the mythical goal of 3100 miles. Forty-six days still left to entertain and enlighten one’s inner and outer beings. Six day totals below.

Tejvan organises short-distance running and cycling races for the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in his home city of Oxford. He is also a very good cyclist, having won the National hill climb championships in 2013 and finished 3rd in the National 100 Mile Time Trials in 2014.

Andrea Marcato worked hard to overcome a few rain storms that pummeled the area, both in the late morning, and then last night, as storms continued to test the runners of the 3100 Mile Race.

Mr Marcato reached 898.29 miles, having remained nearly 68 miles ahead of Tsai Wen-Ya, who reached 830.29 miles, and easily leads the total of five women who are maintaining their running tests on the daily basis of searching for more than 59.618 miles per day, needed to acquire the 3100 Mile Race to finish in the 52 day framework. Taiwan male hero distance runner Wei-Ming Lo totalled 769.96 miles in a dozen days to hold his effort to third overall.

10-time finisher Vasu Duzhiy, a three-time winner of the longest race, has helped his position to stay at fourth overall, with a good effort of 742.54 miles. He needed to maintain the position because of the steady serge from Nina Huang-Lan Yang, the lady who has put pressure on other runners as she is the third Taiwanese to attempt the longest race.

Somewhat cooler weather saw the runners complete good mileage yesterday, Andrea Marcato extended his lead at the top of scoreboard, with his 11th consecutive 70-mile-plus day. Wen-Ya Tsai, the leading woman and 2nd place overall, continued her excellent consistency with a near 67-mile day. Stutisheel Lebedev continued his post-illness recovery with another 60-mile-plus day. But, the race is much more than mileage on the scoreboards with all runners engaging in their own journeys of self-transcedence and self-discovery. This coming week, the weather will be cooler, but with some prospects of rain. Stay tuned for the progress of the race.
