Day 52 - The Race Comes to a Finish

Tejvan organises short-distance running and cycling races for the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in his home city of Oxford. He is also a very good cyclist, having won the National hill climb championships in 2013 and finished 3rd in the National 100 Mile Time Trials in 2014.

After 52 days, 10 runners and a combined mileage of 30,419 miles, the 29th edition of the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race has finished. The 29th edition of the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race has finished. 8 out of the 10 starters managed to complete the 3100 miles, including 4 first time finishers. It means the total number of runners who have ever finished the race has increased from 52 to 56 - still a very elite group!

On the last day, Daniela Bojila (Italy/Romania) finished in a time of 51:08:17:28

Lucong Geng, China finished the 3100 mile race in 51 days, 16 hours, 26 minutes, and 57 seconds.

Ananda-Lahari Zuscin (Slovakia) who six finishes to his name and is distinguished by starting his 21st 3100-Mile Race this year, finished the race with 2829.2 miles

Harita Davies (New Zealand /USA) who has 4 finishes and 6th-ranked women of all time finished the race with 2790.8 miles

Budjargal Byambaa was the day's leader with a mighty impressive 79.5 miles. Andrea Marcato from Italy retains the overall lead and should pass 2,000 miles today. The 2nd best runner of the day was Wei Ming Lo who ran 69.6 miles to consolidate 3rd place. It is the same as 2023 when Wei Ming Lo got stronger as the race went on. Pushkar Mullauer, back to the race after a long absence has been remarkably steady, consistently posting 65+ mile days. Vasu Duzhiy, a three-time winner is also posting consistent days of 60+ miles to leave him poised with 1,783 miles after 27 days.

Radu Budan is a first-time entrant and has really grown into the race managing to average 65.7 miles so far. First lady and also first-time entrant, Annabel Hepworth from Australia is also managing to produce a consistent daily mileage. She averages 62.4 miles to give herself a good buffer. Stutisheel, Ananda and Nina all have great experiences with this race and persevere with their own daily self-transcendence on this famous course.

It is half-way completed in the 28th Sri Chinmoy 3100 Mile Race.

The daily necessary mileage of 59.618 miles/95.947 km is difficult in so many ways. Currently, there are eight runners who have passed this 26-day test. Andrea Marcato leads the pack again, having averaged 73.296 miles/ 117.96km per day. Andrea passed 3000 km today in 25:07:06:15. Nearly eight miles later, he reached 1900 miles in 25:16:29:57. Ashprihanal Aalto is in second with 71.04 miles/114.32 km, per day. He is nearly 80 miles ahead of third place Lo Wei-Ming, who averages 67.94 miles per day/ 109.34 km. Wei-Ming is ahead of Pushkar Muellaer who continues to maintain his strength. He averages 67.60 miles per day/ 108.79 km. Pushkar reached 1700 miles in 25:08:35:23 to stay in fourth place. Vasu Duzhiy ran to 1700 miles in 25:12:21:21. And no surprise Radu Budar reached 1700 miles in 25:14:36:3.

Annabel Hepworth reached 2600km in 25:13:55:06, and is running as smooth as ever. Budjargal Byambaa ran the first lap today to fulfil his reaching the 1600 mile mark that he had run out of time the night before.

Today was a common fall day with cloudy skies and a few drops of rain within the afternoon and then early evening. Then much more rain came down and the sun disappeared, but the fall temps kept the runners to pick up the pace. Andrea Marcato led the way with a 67.5-mile day. In the middle afternoon, Andrea passed the 1,800 miles mark (24:08:40:15) which was one of his best. Just 25 minutes later he passed the 2900 km mark-(24:09:05:19). Annabel Hepworth reached the halfway mark - (24:12:52:16) (video). A few hours later Annabel reached the 2500 km mark (24:15:46:58). Nina- Huang-Lan Yang reached the 1000 Mile mark in 24:12:30:25. Another fun evening was filled by Lo Wei-Ming, as he passed the 1700 mile mark in 24:16:23:32.

As the first day of fall touched into New York, the 12 runners of the Sri Chinmoy 3100-Mile Race continued to shine. Whether they were reaching their goals or touching new ones, the daily or weekly results were full of inner and outer strength and determination. As the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team continues to find new ways and new friends to help us reach our own goals, we are full of gratitude for the runners, and of course the helpers - in any way or shape or form.

The leader Andrea Marcato kept his efforts throughout the day, reaching 2,800 km in 23 days+10:40:52, and allowed himself to stay every night until closing time at 12 midnight, while allowing 71.3 miles to fill his daily leader card once more. Second place Ashprihanal Aalto continued to stay close to the Italian with a 68.6-mile day. What was impressive has been Ashprihanal had fallen onto both arms, which were covered with semi-large white adhesives. He did not seem worried, as he stayed close to Andrea all day. He even passed the 1700 mile mark for the 17th time in 23:12:08:00. Annabel Hepworth ran well again today, as she reached 1500 miles for the first time in her running lore - in 23:15:07:00.

In this race, she has run every day with at least over 60+ miles. She runs consistently and has prepared very well so far.

Ashprihanal Aalto was the day's leader with 71.2 miles, his second consecutive 70 mile plus day. Andrea retains the overall lead with an impressive 1695.6 miles after day 23.

It is still a 43-mile mountain for Andrea. The Italian reached the 2700 km mark in 22:12:57:24, which was his fastest of the five times Andrea reached this mark in the 3100 Mile Race. Radu Budan went past the 1500-mile mark in 22:12:57:24, becoming the first Moldovan runner to reach that distance. He is still staying in sixth place with a very steady effort that he has designed for himself. Annabel Hepworth from Australia has become a strong runner as she glides through the first three weeks of the test. She reached the 2300km mark in 22:13:01:35.Lo Wei-Ming from Taiwan reached the halfway mark in 22:11:34:21. Within an hour or so Wei-Ming passed the 2500km mark in 22:12:33:32. He is still holding on to third place.

Particularly impressive this year have been the first-time entrants, Radu Budan, Budjargal Byambaa and Annabel Hepworth. They are all averaging over the magic 59.6 mile average which is necessary to finish. Budjargal is fighting back after a great start and then injury. Radu and Annabel have been impressively consistent quietly clocking up the miles. There is a long way to go, but the miles are steadily accumulating.

This race requires patience and perseverance and all the runners are displaying that during the first three weeks. It is these qualities which inspire people following the race from all around the world.

Andrea Marcato continued his relentless running chores to reach another excellent day of 74.0 miles, done in a list of 135 laps. He also reached the total of 1600 miles, a strong total in 21:10:30:18.The Italian has taken over the lead in his fifth 3100 races.

A surprise today was the leading total of 146 laps performed by Budjargal Byambaa, which placed him back in the early days of this 28th 3100 Mile Race. He woke up and moved out of his smaller totals from several of the last two weeks. Today he was the leader with 80.1 miles. Along the way Budjargal reached 1,400 miles for the first time in his effort of 21:12:53:03. This was another national record for Mongolia.

Another fine effort came from 60-years young runner Lo Wei-Ming, the Taiwan national hero who came through the 1500 miles in 21:16:53: 03 ,which contributed Wei-Ming’s effort to reach 68.6 miles, and still in a solid third place.

Ananda-Lahari Zuscin became the eleventh runner to pass the 1000 mile mark. Every once in a while Ananda-Lahari is able to put in extraordinary efforts in a single, and fashions a good effort to make a mark. Remember, Ananda-Lahari has six complete finishes of running the races over the 20 years. His time was 21:01:49:30 today.

Andrea Marcato ran his best day since seven days ago, reaching 74.0 miles. The most significant of this day was that Andrea reached the half-way point in 20:16:55:08. He feels that it was his best in the five 3100s that he has attempted, and the previous four ones that he tried ended at the very top of the runners he had joined. Of course one still has to run the second half and get through the difficulty that can challenge any runner in the longest race. Will the body stay in constant forward movements; will the weather stay as superb as it has been for the next few weeks. Will cold, rainy weather hit the area as it sometimes does in late September and October?

Ashprihanal Aalto ran 67 miles today, but he just seems unable to reach 70-mile days as it has so often happened in his great performances that led him to nine victories. He has run with most of the great performers who have dominated the 3100 Mile Race. We will see how all the runners handle the next 31 days still remaining. Wei-Ming Lo has been moving ahead well in third place. Today he reached the 2300km mark in 20:15:46:15, which may be a tremendous age- 60 best ever.

ndrea Marcato reached 71.3 miles in completing 130 laps today. Ashprihanal Aalto reached 69.1 miles to cover his efforts with 126 laps. Stutisheel Lebedev made it to 1000 miles in 19:03:46:50, the tenth runner to make it to the 1000 miles this year. Radu Budan made it to 1300 miles in another national best for Moldova, reaching the park in 19:11:13:20. Budjargal Byambaa made it to 1300 miles this evening, reaching the mark in 19:17:33:27, the most he has ever run in a race.

Ashprihanal Aalto made a solid return to the forefront of the 3100 Mile Race, with an impressive 136 laps - 74.6 miles. He gained 13 laps off a still large group of laps that surrounds Mr Andrea Marcato - 35 laps still separate him from the two great runners at the top of the list. Andrea Marcato reached 1400 miles today in 18:15:19:19. He is averaging 74.207 miles per day/119.426 km.

Wei-Ming Lo maintained his third place with another 68.6 miles, reaching 1300 miles in 18 days+17:26:59. Radu Budan set an amazing national 2000km time for Moldova, reaching the distance in 18:14:05:17. He has been steady and solid for the 19 days so far, averaging 66.01 miles per day/106.23km. Annabel Hepworth from Australia reached 1200 miles today - she is averaging 63.157 miles per day/101.64 km.

Andrea Marcato still leads with a total of 1270.66 miles, ahead of Ashprihanal Aalto and his 1242.69 miles. Wei-Ming Lo remains in third place with 1163.72 miles, about four and a half miles over Pushkar Mullauer and his 1158.23 miles. Vasu Duzhiy,16 miles behind Pushkar is in fifth place, is keeping ahead of Budjagal Byambaa by about three miles in sixth. The weather has been pleasant with cool evenings, and the runners are moving along. Grahak Cunningham made it past the 1000 mile mark in 16:10:47:37, as it was his fifth time moving towards the longer distances in the days ahead. He is now averaging at 61.524 miles per day, which if he can maintain, is a possible chance to finish the race on late Day 51. This means that nine runners could finish the race before the race ends on October 20, 2024. Of course, everything will have to fall into place for all the runners. Best wishes for all the runners in the longest race.

Andrea Marcato is feeling good these last two days, as he extended his lead over the rest of the runners. Ashprihanal could not stay close to Andrea in the morning and afternoon. Andrea’s late night speed keeps everyone else behind him. He topped the day with 1132.46 miles, while Mr Aalto would reach 1107.23 miles The most interesting movements this afternoon and evening were the four men who reached the 1000 mile mark. Budjargal Beyambaa reached the first major mark of this long race for the first time. He passed the mark in 14:11:58:33.Pushkar Mullauer reached the mark in 14:12:05:33 for the fourth time. Lo Wei-Ming also reached the 1000 mile mark for the sixth time in his life in 14:12:45:52. It appears that Wei-Ming might have an age group 60 years best, to be confirmed later. A few hours later Vasu Duzhiy reached this mark for the 12th time in 14:15:25:11.

1st time runner Annabel Hepworth passed 900 miles in the morning and will pass 1,000 miles soon.

Andrea Marcato took over the 3100 Mile Race today, as Ashprihanal could not continue his fine efforts from the previous six days. Both men passed the 1000 mile mark. Andrea Marcoto reached it first in 13:03:02:08. Mr Aalto reached 1000 in 13:03:26:23. Ashprihanal had touch times in the late afternoon and middle evening. Andrea finished the day with 74.0 miles, while Ashprihanal reached 62.5 miles. Third placer Budjargal had a better effort today, after four injury hit days in the past five. The 63.6 mile total was full of great hours as it helped to hold off three men crunching for his position. This group of four men should reach 1000 miles on Friday: Budjargal; Pushkar, Vasu and Wei-Ming Lo.

Andrea Marcato maintained his position ahead of Ashprihanal with a solid 72.4 miles. The smooth-running Mr Aalto reached 75.1 miles to move a bit closer to the Italian athlete, who happens to be 12 years younger than the Finish overall record holder. Both men should pass the 1000 mile mark on today-Thursday, as well as the 1500km mark. Budjargal had another sub par day with 46.1 miles, but he reached a new personal and national best of 900 miles in 12 days+17:02:12.

Fourth placer Pushkar Mullauer has moved closer to third place as he posted another day with 67.5 miles. He is only 12 miles behind third place and has been consistent since the start day. Only Day 8 was a few laps below 60 miles, and the rest of his output has been near or over 65 to 67 mile days. Pushkar, Vasu and Wei-Ming Lo should pass the 900 mile mark on Thursday, so there will be quite a few horns and bells throughout the day.

Annabel Hepworth is very solid and is running very smoothly, with no sub-par days at all. Grahak Cunningham is running quite well, and he looks like the fine runner he was from 2011 and 2012.

Andrea Marcato took over the race today, totalling 76.2 miles/ 122.6 km. Ashprihanal Aalto was a little down in his running today, getting 70.2 miles/ 112.97 km. He still keeps five straight days of over 70 miles in a row. Budjargal Beyambaa had a slow start that almost allowed himself to consider having had enough. But good for him, he started running back to his quick pace for the last 6 or 7 hours to bring himself to holding on to third place and reach 51 miles in a personal redeeming restart. Pushkar and Vasu were at even from yesterday as a tie for fourth place Today Pushkar pulled three miles ahead of Vasu and maintained another solid day, just under 70 miles. We-Ming Lo reached 800 miles today in a time of 11:15:19:31. He is getting to the level he found last year, when his last 16 days were amazing, and carried himself to a 3100-mile finish in 45 days +8 hours.

Just like Day 10, Ashprihanal and Andrea Marcato finished the same mini distance apart with both men reaching 78.4 miles.

And Mr Aalto was still one lap ahead - a 0.5 mile lap. His total was 838.0 miles/1348.6km. Andrea had a total of 837.4 miles/1347.7km. The third placer is still Budjargal Byambaa, who has fallen back to 805.6 miles/1246.5 km. He is now experiencing a race longer than 10 Days for the first time. There was also a tie in fourth place, as Vasu Duzhiy finished the same total as Pushkar Mullaer - 754/1 miles/1213.5 km.

Annapel Hepworth reached 700 miles for the first time in 10 days+14:19:58. She seems to be enjoying her first 3100 Mile Race. And she likes the letters. So keep those cards and letters coming in.

The top three runners went at it all day, each runner keeping their 10 days to be a great first effort, with several weeks to go.

Ashprihanal Aalto and Andrea Marcato traded the top of the list. At five hours Mr Marcato held the quickest totals and made it harder for Ashbrihanal to stay with him. After the afternoon remained pleasant, and it was a surprise to celebrate Budjagal and his 42nd birthday, the Mongolian restarted his fine running. The final list showed Ashprihanal first with 759.5 miles (1222.4,km) followed by Andrea Marcato with 759.0 miles (1222.1km . And the Birthday Boy reached 746.9 miles,(1201.2 km). Fourth place Pushkar Mullauer reached 687.7 miles (1106.7 km) and Vasu Duzhiy closed to within just under 3 miles, taking a total at 685.0 miles (1101.6 km)

Following was Lo Wei-Ming with 671.4 miles (1079.4 km), and then Radu Budan from Moldova made it to 664.7 miles (1068.7km)

The great Annabel Hepworth from Australia checked in with 645.5 miles (1038.8 km)

Grahak Cunningham made it to 593.4 miles (954.9 km) He passed just ahead of Nina Huang-Lan Yang who held 591.7 miles (952.3 km), The Ukraine runner Stutisheel Lebedev made it past 502.3 miles (808.4 km) after overcoming leg problems. The silent Brahmin Ananda-Lahari Zuscin reached 467.2 miles (752.1 km). 42 days remain and the 12 runners are still testing themselves for 18 hours every day.. Good luck to all the inner warriors.

The weather was not bad again today, and the middle of the day allowed the runners to get along well with running on the 0.48406 of a mile course. Ashprihanal Aalto was able to resume his excellent running after two days of a head and throat cold.

He and Andrea Marcato eventually reached 132 laps each, around the course. They both moved nine laps closer to the Mongolian wizard Budjargal Byambaa who has led for the last two days. These three men ahead in the race have also pulled the rest of the field forward to their own discovery, as each 3100 mile race has its own exploits revealed in so many ways.

There are still 10 people out of the 12 runners who can at least have a chance to make the last day, or even sooner a happy if not glorious final result. The past history of this event shows an average of about 60 percent will finish the 5,653 laps within the 52 days. There are still 44 days left. We certainly wish all the runners a chance to reach their goals.

Budjargal Byambaa from Mongolia continued to lead the 3100 with a fine run of 71.3 miles. Ashprihanal Aalto managed 63.07 miles as his strange head cold was starting to fade away.

Andrea Marcato led all 12 runners with 134 laps today, which added him 73.48 miles.

He is now only 4.4 km behind Ashprihanal. Pushkar Muellower maintained another day in fourth place, reaching 504 miles after his solid 7 days. He is still averaging 72.07 miles per day. The very steady Vasu Duzhiyran 69.91 miles today, as a 58-year-old runner, was as smooth as ever. Don’t forget 60-year-old Lo Wei-Ming, the Taiwanese hero who ran 66.98 miles today, which ironically was the same distance as first-timer Radu Budan reached. Annabel Hepworth reached 65.72 miles(105.77 km) as her daily average. And don't forget Nina Huang-Lan Yang has been as steady as any through 7 days, She is averaging 59.38 miles/95.57 km. And after a difficult start, the crowd favourite Grahak Cunningham is now running well above 60 miles a day bringing his average up to 57.42 miles per day, and passing over 400 miles, so Australia is still breathing hope for their all-time national 3100-mile runner.

Today’s Day 6 was again dominated by Budjargal Byambaa, as his 140 laps increased his lead over Ashprihanal. Ashprihanal told us he felt sick during the night, and almost didn’t run today. Luckily he felt better and eventually he posted 114 laps. Andrea Marcato had an excellent last three hours to get gloser to Ashprihanal.
