Rupantar has been the race director of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team since 1985, having been asked by Sri Chinmoy to serve in that capacity. "Each summer in Queens, N.Y., a bland stretch of sidewalk becomes the setting for a mind-boggling endurance challenge.

"With little fanfare, a small group of ultrarunners from around the world compete in the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3,100 Mile Race, the world's longest certified footrace.
