Day 10

Another beautiful sunny day in Salzburg. All runners had the Grace to do good mileage, even Milan seemed to get used to the hard work and covered 92,8 km. Only 3,2 km missing for an average day to finish the 3100. His knee is healed to 85%, according to him. Hopefully Milan can improve his performance by a little and start diminishing his deficit to be on pace. Still 42 days are left in the Race.

Somehow, the dauntless Ushika reached 98,1 km struggling very hard, especially in the afternoon. In the evening there were light complaints coming from his side, so that his pain reached a new level. Still he is grateful for the experience.

Andrea reached nearly 700 miles in 10 days. 696 miles was his total at midnight, covering 109,5 km on day 10. A few hours before midnight in one of his few breaks he mentioned: "I am quite cooked". He is still struggling with sore fore feet. Also after finishing the day he saw that his left Achilles is a bit swollen.

Nirbhasa was the man of day 10, covering 112,7 km and going home at 23:40. He was the only one going home before midnight. Steady, cheerful and with new energy from his new helper (his brother Sadanand), Nirbhasa mastered the day as Day Leader.

Ananda-Lahiri finished at midnight with 99,1 km. in his usual silent and humble manner.

Many more striking days to come.

Ten days have come and gone, and our five stalwart runners are still moving well and making inner and outer progress. Though the journey is long, each day is an opportunity for the long distance runner to find his best ‘Self’ inside the mortal frame. I know I admire these people for attempting such a difficult task, and I think they understand a little more each day why they are running. Those are the best stories to hear and tell.
