Today was a nice and cool day, good weather for running.

Nirbhasa and Ushika used the conditions to their advantage.

Nirbhasa ‘travelled’ solid 107,5 km and kept his promise, he ran until midnight. This brought him 2ndplace today.

Ushika enjoyed the new online article from our journalist friend Gerald Lehner from the National news ORF.  Especially looking at the 30 excellent photos in the article while walking and jogging he smiled and smiled.

Gerald put the article online at 5 am. By 10 am already 10 000 people read it. By the way Gerald does his third night in a row guarding our race-camp. Thank you Gerald!

Ushika covered 103,3 km, which gives him another 7,3 km more for his ‘cushion’. He went home at midnight full of energy!

Andrea was once more winner of the day with 110,6 km. He is a little struggling with tiredness and again fore foot pain. But nothing major.

Unfortunately in Milan’s case, his shin splint is not getting better and in some phases of the day having pain every step must be really very annoying, to say the least. One is forced to do it for a higher, divine cause. What an indescribably tough surrender lesson. Milan reached 72 km and went home at 11:40 pm. Great hanging in there Milan!

Ananda-Lahari had to walk the whole day. He covered 80,4 km (50 miles). As written before, he is not speaking about his problems. Maybe his sore feet are still bothering him. He told me he is having a good day, praying, crying and smiling. He was referring to today’s Race- prayer. Crying is from the heart; Smiling is from the Soul.

Stats

  • Andrea Marcato- 2700km- 23:16:05:28
  • Nirbhasa Magee- 1500 miles- 23:09:20:00
  • Ushika Muckenhumer- 1400 miles- 23:02:28:48
  • Milan Javornicky- 2000km- 23:07:40:00

The runners have four full weeks- 28 days- to finish the 3100-mile adventure.

The first three men are on pace to finish the race if they stay healthy and injury free.

Ananda-Lahari is the wild card - he could go either way. I am a little surprised that he is slower than last year, when, in his 16th start, ran his fastest ever for 3100 miles.

But the course is different, and for the first time in his 3100 career, there are only five runners in the race. When you have 10 to 13 or more runners on the course, there is a stronger energy and more of a camaraderie.

Not to say that this group is lackluster at all, but when you get and feel others energy on a more regular basis, you are bound to do a little better. Having said all that, Ananda-Lahari still is his own man, and really does enjoy walking all day, then running faster for a full day. He does it and does it well. And his smile is the Best. So go for it Big Guy!

And your chaps out there.
