Day 21

Warm wind greeted the morning, later on a little rain and wind appeared, followed by a cold night. Overall, a sunny day. Because it is weekend, many friends came to visit the runners.

Andrea's fore foot problems are better, new problems arrived. Nevertheless, he managed to cover 117,9 km by midnight (just a little over 73 miles). If he can do the same mileage tomorrow he reaches the 'half-way-point' just under 22 days. Which would be just terrific!

To show how hard Andrea works: today he ran very steady for 18 hours, took three breaks, the first 12 minutes, the second 7 minutes, the third 5 minutes. What amazing capacity, discipline and willpower this man has!

Ushika and Ananda-Lahiri closed the day with the same mileage, 104,3 km (64,8 miles). Ushika had a great day and was super happy with a large article appearing in Salzburger Nachrichten, a local newspaper, well known in Austria. The article covers the race and focuses a lot on Ushika, presenting a picture of him running and smiling in rain gear.

Ananda-Lahari had an incredible start this morning at 6 am. He ran the first lap in 5 minutes. Normally all 5 runners have an average around 10 minutes. Also the first lap one would expect the runners go slowly, walk and warm up, but Ananda-Lahari showed us a different strategy.

As usual he stayed calm and cheerful throughout the whole day.

Nirbhasa is struggling a little with digestive problems. My guess is that this might cause him also energy problems. The doctor prescribed him natural and homeopathic medicine. By God's Grace we were able to get it by this night. Nonetheless he was able to cover 101,2 km, going home at 23:47.

Milan covered 86,6 km and went home at 23:18. He is still a little cautious not to run too hard because he does not want to have the heavy shin splint pain again. Before going home he thanked everybody in his usual soulful manner.

Sleep well runners, get ready for a sunny but not too hot Sunday!
