Report day 19,

A beautiful sunny and warm day!

A bit difficult for Andrea because his fore-feet get extremely hot and very painful in the evening until midnight, Nevertheless he again managed to do more than 70 miles, 113,7 km, while closing at midnight and going happily home. Another Day Leader banner for him.

Very close to Andrea was Ananda-Lahari today, with 111,6 km, going home at 23:25.

After two days of walking, he managed a great 'running comeback'. Way to go Ananda-Lahari!

Two or three more 'running days' and he could be back on track and start to build up a nice 'cushion'.

Nirbhasa, like clockwork, keeps his breaks and his rhythm very disciplined, and very steady!

He was very happily saying good night at 23:47, having 101,2 km in his pocket.

After many days he did not need medicine to stabilize his digestive system.

Ushika although having a bit of a difficult day covered 97 km, which gives him 1 km more on the 'cushion bank account'.

Milan still having shin splint was happily reaching 1000 miles this noon for the first time in his life and was celebrating with greens, fresh carrots and raspberries. Going home at 23:35 after bravely covering 78,2 km. He told us that beyond the outer hardship of his injury he enjoys every moment of the Race and that he has beautiful inner experiences.

Andrea is approaching elite status, as the third week is coming to an end in 2 days.

He passed another national best for 1300 miles. It seems like an odd distance measure, but in 1987, Sri Chinmoy, our Race founder and Marathon Team leader and namesake, pushed the boundaries for the pioneers of super long distance from 1000 miles up to 1300 miles. It took two years before three men made it to 1300 in a race. Then, the world best time was whittled down to its fastest time of 16days,+00:28:10 in 2000 by Lithuanian legend Rimas Jakelaitis. At the end of 1991’s 1300 event, Sri Chinmoy requested a 2700- mile race, which came to fruition in 1996. Then a year later was the birth of our present 3100 Mile Race.

The 1300-mile race distance stayed in our arsenal of multiday events until 2004. The 3100 has given pioneer runners the opportunity to join the Greats like Al Howie, Istvan Sipos, Georgs Jermolajevs, Rimas Jakelaitis, plus women Giants like Sandra Barwick, Surasa Mairer, Antana Locs, Suprabha Beckjord, Martina Hausman and Nidhruvi Zimmermann who have pushed the barriers further along. Now, the new elite like Andrea Marcato, Kobe Oren, Pawel Zuk, and Nikolae Buceanu are searching for the stars with their new energy and great talent as they discover the 3100 mile race, and more.
