About the author:

Rupantar has been the race director of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team since 1985, having been asked by Sri Chinmoy to serve in that capacity. As well as working on the big races the US Marathon Team organise each year - the 3100 Mile Race and the Six and 10 Day Race - he also spends a considerable amount of time archiving the Marathon Team's 40 year history on this website.

The 2011 Self Transcendence 3100 Mile Race is the longest certified foot race in the world (Certificate Code: NY97024PR). The competitors seek to complete 5649 laps of a .5488 mile course (883 meters) in a timespan of 52 days. This year's 3100 Mile Race will start on June 12. Runners to the start!

  • Stutisheel Lebedev, 40 years, has been seriously running for more then 26 year and in his own works: "just loves it". It will be his 7th 3100 Mile Race. He progressed from 53 days in 2004 to 48 days in 2009 in this everest-running. He has written 5 books on his 3100 mile journey, the last one in 2010 - Eat to Run: Health and Diet of An Ultrarunner. He lives in Kiev, Ukraine, where he is involved in many projects - from lecturing and giving training on personal growth, to managing a company of software development with dozen of people. During this race he will write his own blog.
  • Pranjal will run for the 6th time this year. Last year he ran his best 3100 time; 48 days 6 hours. In 16 years he has run 58 marathons and 37 ultras, including 11 multiday races. He has run also three Ironman distance triathlons. During this race he will be writing his own blog.
  • Abichal has been running multiday races since 1996 including six Self-Transcendence 3100 mile races and in 2004 started multidays.com which has grown to be a resource for ultrarunning news and events around the world.
