The ever-consistent Yuri Trostenyuk from Vinnitsa,Ukraine has assumed the lead today with a solid 65.3 mile effort, all the more impressive in the third day of a heat-wave that has slowed virtually all of the other runners. Only 21 miles separate the top three runners. Temps in the low 90's and a strong sun with little cloud cover was the topic throughout, yet all the runners seemed to regale in their adaptability to heat running. Four men passed sixty miles, including the irrepressible Stutisheel Lebedyev (64.2), who has rebounded from hot days countless times throughout his 12 years entered in this race.

Two more days in the 90's await. The challenge to mind, body and spirit continues.
