1.   Asprihanal Aalto,34,Helsinki, Finland            46+06:55:11
    One of the best endurance runners in the world,  Asprihanal is ranked second alltime for 3100 miles (46 days 6 hours), has won the 700 mile race three times with a best of 9 days five hours, and has won the 3100 race three times(2000, 2001, 2004). Last year he dominated the race from start to finish. For three straight years he ran all three yearly Self-Transcendence multidays in New York(six days, 3100 miles, 700 miles)-  a feat unprecedented in multiday annals. Asprihanal has emerged victorious in the Six Day Race two times, winning each race with supreme efforts on the last day.  He is a three time winner of the 700 mile race, with the fastest winners’ time in the 17 races (9 days five hours) He has also hiked the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail in solo fashion, covering 60 km per day for up to twelve weeks. Asprihanal works as a courier and delivery man back in Helsinki.

2.   Kuranga Peel,38, Neusiedl,Austria                48+05:02:44
    Last year, Kurunga finished second in the 3100 in 48 days, 5 hours, a remarkable first attempt, and good for sixth place all time.In 25 years of running,Kurunga has run over 30 ultras, including 3 multidays. He finished third in the 700 Mile Race in 2001 in 11 days, 2 hours. He has completed the difficult Spartathalon Race (246 km over mountains) in Greece, as well as several 48 hour events. Kurunga won the Austrian National Championship 24-Hour Race with 229km(142.3 miles) on a hilly course in 2004.

3.   Smarana Puntigam,34,Vienna,Austria            49+04:53:25

       Smarana has finished the 3100 miler three times, with a best of 49 days,4 hours (2002). Last year he finished third in 49 days,11 hours. He has run nine multidays, including a good performance at 1000 miles in 14 days 17 hours in 2001. He has run 700 miles in 10 days,18 hours. A  strong runner with a cheerful demeanor, Smarana is excited about improving his performance.

4.   Suprabha Beckjord,49,Washington DC USA          49+14:30:54

      Suprabha is one of the most prolific super-long distance runners in the world. She is the only eight-time finisher in the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race, and still the only female competitor. Her best is 49 days, 14 hours for 3100 miles, ranking her eighth alltime. In the decade of the nineties, she compiled 20,108 multiday racing miles in 14 multiday events. She is the American women’s record holder for 700, 1000 and 1300 miles. She is only one of three people ever to finish the 1300 mile race three times or more. She was first woman in the 1996 Sri Chinmoy 2700 Mile Race, third overall out of six people,establishing new  records beyond 1300 miles up to 2700 miles. Suprabha won the Sri Chinmoy Seven-Day race five times earlier in her career, and has held the women’s world record for 1000 miles as well. She has a six-day best of 459 miles, sixth ranking all-time for women. She owns a gift shop in Washington,DC., and has been a member of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team for many years.

5.   Trishul Cherns,48,Middle Village,NY Canada         50+03:36:01

    Canada’s premier multiday specialist, and one of the world’s most prolific runners, Trishul returns for his third attempt at 3100 miles. He has completed 31 multiday events. In 1999 he finished third in the 3100 in 50 days,three hours during the hottest summer in New York in 100 years. He holds 112 Canadian national records for various distance including 1000 miles(13 days,7 hours) 1000 km(7 days,14 hours) and 48 hours(221+ miles). He has done 538 miles for six days and 130 miles for 24 hours. He has run over 160 ultras since 1978, totalling over 33,000 racing miles. He is dedicating this race to the memory of his long-time training partner, Dharma the dog, who passed recently. He lives with his wife Kaaren in Middle Village, Queens, and works as a physiotherapist.

6.   Stutisheel Lebedyev,35, Kiev, Ukraine                      53+03:57:38

    In his first attempt last year,  Stutisheel completed 3100 miles in 53 days, 3 hours.He has been running for over 23 years. He has run over 20 ultras and numerous marathons, with a best of 2:46. He has won the Sri Chinmoy Invitational 47 miler (2002), as well as run long relay runs throughout Europe and Russia. A  ski racer in his youth, Stutisheel attained a candidate bid for master of his sport. He lives with his family in Kiev.

7.   Rathin Boulton,32, Canberra,ACT, Australia       54+15:39:14

    Rathin entered the ranks of the legends with his finish of 3100 miles last year. He completed the distance in 54 days, 15 hours, ranking himself 13th all-time for 3100 miles. In 2003, he went for broke and entered the 3100 Mile Race with limited ultra experience. After withstanding the assault of injuries and fatique, he toughened up and continued on to run 2818 miles in 60 days, averaging 47 miles( 75.57 km) per day. He has run six ulras in eight years of running. He looks forward to an even better performance this year.

8.   Abichal Watkins,44, Pontypool,Wales  UK          55+08:32:41

    Last year, Abichal became the first runner from the United Kingdom to complete the 3100 miler, finishing in 55 days, 8 hours, an average of 56+ miles per day. In 2003, with little time for preparation, Abichal entered the race and ran 2747 miles in 53 days, averaging 52.01 miles (84.02 km) per day. In ten years of running, Abichal has completed 25 ultras, including eight Ten-Day races. His best for that event is 540 miles. Abichal has run 700 miles in 11 days 23 hours. In 2002  he ran 827 miles in the 1000 mile race. Abichal is an aspiring poet, with six books of his works in print. He is also the editor of the new website:Multidays.com, editor of Multiday Running magazine, and editor of The Multiday Runner’s Handbook, which is available in print. He still finds time to run long.

9.   Martin Milovnik,32,Bratislava,Slovakia

    Martin has run 870 miles in 15 days, including splits of 622 miles for10 days and 392 for six days. Martin has been running for15 years. He has completed 20 ultras, including 7 multidays and two Ironman Triathlons.This will be his first attempt at 3100 miles.

10  Tsvetan Tsekov,24,Sofia,Bulgaria
    Tsvetan has already run eight multiday races in four years of running. He has completed the 700 miler twice, with a best of 10 days 20 hours. In 2003 Tsvetan finished second in the Ten Day with 622 miles and completed 901 miles in the 1000 miler. In 2002 he won the 700 mile race for the men in 11 days 18 hours and he alsom won the 700 in 2004. He will be the youngest to ever attempt 3100 miles.

11  Srdjan Stojanovich,42,Nish,Serbia-Montenegro
    Srdjan has completed nearly 20 ultras and three multidays in 15 years of running. His bests include 700 miles in 11 days,9 hours in 1999 and 627 miles for ten days in 2000. He has run 100 km in 8 hours and the marathon in 2:48. This will be his first attempt at 3100 miles.

12  Pranab Vladovic,29,Bratislava, Slovakia
    Pranab has run seven ultras and 20 marathons in 10 years of running. His bests include 644 miles for 10 days in 2004, and 386 miles for six days. This will be his first attempt at 3100 miles.

13  Rainald Pobitzer,25,Innsbruck,Austria
    Rainhald has run ten ultras in six years of running. His bests include 611 miles in 12 days, 525 in 10 days, and 352 miles for six days. He will be making his first attempt at the world’s longest footrace.

14  Robert Zuscin,30,Kysak,Slovakia
    Robert has run 10 ultras in 18 years of running. His bests include 305 miles for six days, 476 miles for 10 days, and 585 miles for 12 days. This will be his first attempt at 3100 miles.
