The breaking-in part of the 3100 Mile Race, where the body and mind somehow adapt to the huge workload of running over 60 miles every day, usually lasts for up to two weeks. This year, the pandemic has strengthened the will of the athletes to not only survive, but expand their abilities beyond their own expectations. Six runners have now gone past 700 miles, with the seventh standing just an hours’ worth of running away. Andrea Marcato continued his efforts to pull ahead by a day over Wei-Ming Lo. But the wily Taiwanese veteran has gone home early four nights in a row, whilst still running over 100 km per day. Today, the top six all went over 60 miles for the day.

Keep it going runners, and don’t forget to run with conviction and belief in your ability. It is what we all need, those of us who watch you run. You are Ability and Hope, things that you always bring to the start line every day. May we start to appreciate our own opportunities.
