Day 38 The last of the mini heat wave stayed until dinnertime, as skies swirled, no rain fell, and the humidity level plummeted. The top three poured it on in the evening to get past their friend- 70 miles. This time all three succeeded. Yasu Duzhiy hit 71.89 miles with some fast laps in the last hour. Galya Balatskyy, celebrating his birthday today, reached 70.79 miles. His string of 38 straight over 70 days remains unbroken. Ashprihanal Aalto willed his tired body the final hours of the day to 72.99 miles. He passed 2900 miles, and eyes a friday finish. Surasa Mairer reached 64.21 to increase her per day average and inch closer to the women's best performance- the legendary 1998 effort by Suprabha Beckjord(49 +14;30;54). She has 12 days to catch the American heroine.
